Create Your Own Beautiful Arrangement at Home

We recently hosted our first virtual flower arranging class in celebration of Mother’s Day. Flower Girl founder and owner Denise Porcaro guided us through creating our whimsical arrangements, welcoming participants from around the world. While those in NYC received a special Flower Girl delivery, others foraged or visited their local bodegas for fresh blooms and greenery. Missed the class and want to try creating an arrangement at home? Check out our simple step by step guide.

1. Start your arrangement with a variety of greens
The first step to creating your arrangement is selecting 1-3 different greens. Experiment with layering them and selecting greens that feel more interesting.

2. Add big bright flowers
These are your heavy hitter blooms. Choose big, vibrant flowers like a ficus that will automatically complement your arrangement.

3. Place flowers at different levels
Adding texture and neutrals helps fill holes and brighten up arrangements. Don’t feel like you have to fill every gap, and have fun playing around with placing your blooms at different heights.

4. Look at your arrangement from all angles
Continue to spin your arrangement and look at it from different levels to make sure you’ve crafted a well-rounded and balanced arrangement.
